In Switzerland, the building can matter as much as the provider. Before you pick a plan, confirm what connection types are actually available in your apartment. That one step prevents most “I pay for fast internet but it feels slow” stories.
Check the building connection first
Ask what is available: fiber, cable, or DSL. Then locate the socket and plan router placement. A premium plan cannot fix a router placed behind thick walls or in a poor corner.
If video calls drop or audio stutters, you do not always need a faster plan. First stabilize Wi‑Fi: move the router, avoid placing it in a closed cabinet, and consider a wired connection for your main workstation.
Choose for stability, not only speed
For remote work, stable latency and a reliable Wi‑Fi setup matter. For gaming, router quality and placement are often more important than headline speed.
Contract traps to avoid
